Recent venue upgrades have transformed Simonds Stadium from a regional venue into a first-class multi purpose venue that can be adapted to suit a number of sports and events. An upgrade to the stadium lighting has also bolstered the venue’s capabilities, with AFL night games now also hosted at the Geelong venue.

Australian Rules Football (AFL) is the dominant code at the venue, however Simonds Stadium has played host to National A-League and W-League soccer, Super Rugby, SuperX Motorcycles and domestic first class cricket matches.
