The long-serving Adelaide Showground has been the home to an abundance of races, games, exhibitions and shows since the turn of last century. Since 2008 the grounds have even added ‘power station’ to its list of responsibilities.

Beginning first as the birthplace of Australian Speedway, the showgrounds was known to achieve regular crowds of 35, 000 and was promoted as ‘The Worlds Fastest Dirt Track Speedway’ famously giving a young Kym Bonython his first taste of the race.

Whilst the grounds are still used as a speedway track, in the modern time it has been used as a venue for AFL, harness racing, monster trucks, motocross, music events Big Day Out, Stereosonic, Future Music as well as the Annual Royal Show and all manner of exhibitions.
